It’s just the girls tonight! The Boy & Girl left yesterday to head back to Nashville and Mama & Daddy left today to head back to Maryland. That leaves just the girls here to ring in the New Year.
Today we headed out for our routine stop at Roswell Provisions for coffee. But first we stopped by some cute little shops because that’s what we do when it’s just us.
Our first stop was at Provisions for the Home on Elizabeth Way in Roswell. The lady that owns this sweet little shop also owns Roswell Provisions. She searches out great finds, fixes them and then sales them. Each item has a special touch of Country French style.
Whether a iron gate with a chalk board hung fro it, a enamel baby bath tub, burlap curtains or old doors, you will find many treasures here. I especially liked the candles she carries. Each piece is unique and one of a kind. If you find yourself in Roswell, GA, don’t forget to stop by.
And of course after we shopped a little, we headed around the corner to Roswell Provisions for our cup of coffee, some quiche Loraine and a chocolate croissant.
Of course Sister and I split it because there is no way I could eat both of these. In fact, this was perfect for both of us. While we waited for our lunch to be warmed up, I took a tour around the shop to share with you some of the amazing things they have. Mrs. McG would want to live here and I can’t wait for her to come back with me.
These jars hold spice blends. Basil, lavender and Herb de Provence. Can I just tell you how amazing each jar smelled. You can fill your own bag for a small price and enjoy these smells yourself.
Then there is the vinegar & olive oil bar. Each container held a variety of olive oils and the others a large selection of vinegars. They encourage you to sample them, but with the quiche and croissant, I decided not to. However, I’m not one to sample vinegars or olive oils.
There is a case of meets and cheese. What I really want to try though is the local ravioli that is delivered every Monday morning. There is a variety of French and US cheese, with some of the cheeses from right here in Georgia. They also have a variety of smoked and cured meets from Patak Meats in Austell, GA. They also carry salamis, Italian sausage, roast beef, pastrami, turkey, among other delicious looking meets.
However, I must say that my favorite part of the of the shop is right here in the the pastry cabinet. Kelly Cakes makes amazing cupcakes in a variety of flavors. My favorite is the German Chocolate cupcake, but after today, the Chocolate filled Croissant runs a very close 2nd. By the way, Kelly Cakes is located above Provisions along with Party Chic. We enjoyed lunch at Party Chic the day after Christmas and we all enjoyed it so much.
As you walk through the doors of Provisions, they have a stand of organic nuts and veggies. It’s a beautiful display.
And as we ate our lunch, we looked over Canton Street and I know why I love this town so much. It’s a great place to grow.
After filling up on coffee and quiche, we headed to another favorite place, Kudzu Antiques in Decatur, GA.
It’s a very interesting place with lots of interesting things. It’s a place must be experienced.
From there we headed to the Dekalb Farmers Market. It’s our first time there and it’s not what we thought, but it was interesting to go. They have food from all over the world, seafood galore and fresh baked breads. It’s a food market for foodies.
So, that was our day. That pretty much is what we do when I’m here in Georgia. See why I love it so much. There is so much to experience here.
Tonight we are sitting on the couch watching the BBC version of Sense and Sensibility while I update my blog. So, it’s a very quiet evening for us here in the house. I like New Year Eve’s like this. It’s safe and I’m in good company.
So, here is to a great New Year for you and your families. Thanks for sticking by me through this rough year and little blogging. And if you just found me, thank you for sticking to the end of the post and reading of my adventures.
