What a Great Weekend

I had the most amazing weekend.  Friday night one of my Co-Workers, Cowboy, and I went to take our handgun class.  We met after work and headed to a very small little town called Unionville.  The Fire Hall reminded me of North Carolina and the small fire department there.  We sat through 4 hours of “gun talk” and I took tons and tons of notes.  Cowboy said that I took down everything he said word for word, but it wasn’t that bad…almost. HA I wanted to do really well on the test because I know that I wouldn’t hear the end of it if I failed.  After about four hours, we headed back home.  Let’s just say that IT WAS FREEZING outside.  I just couldn’t believe how cold it was.  I think my teeth chattered half way back home. HA

Saturday morning we had to be at the shooting range at 8:00, which meant that we needed to leave by 7:00.  We met at the hospital, which was a good place to meet and headed back south.  We got there about 7:40 and ended up waiting until 8:00 for the gates to open.  Once inside we had to wait for our turn to shoot.  Nerves were started to set in for me, while Cowboy was calm as a cucumber.  Cowboy used this time to try on my eye protection and try to calm my nerves and make me laugh.

           Rose colored            or           Yellow colored

He opted for the yellow and I wore the rose colored glasses.  Because we all know life is more beautiful through rose colored glasses.  Sorry I just couldn’t resists.

After letting the people shoot that were suppose to work that morning, they decided to try a novice class.  After an hour we were really ready to move them on.  You should be able to shoot 50 rounds in an hour AND hit the target, but they were having a little trouble.  And with me being a novice, I was getting more nervous.  Could I hit the target?  Would the gun kick?  If I fail, my guys are going to laugh at me.

Cowboy was getting anxious and ready to shoot.  He took his new gun (24/7 something) and took his spot on the field?  Is it called a field?

CBonds

Cowboy is getting ready for his shoot.  The guy in the black beside him (CB is in the blue cap) was having issues with his gun.  His clip kept falling out and they were having to look for his bullets time and time again.

And then it was my turn.  I walked out on the the shooting range (aaaa, that’s what it’s called) and loaded my .22 (not mine, but my instructors).  Wait, I don’t know how to load a .22.  See the gun in the yellow hoodie?  He was a sweet guy and showed me how to load my clip, tap it to set the bullets and then shove it in place.  All the while remembering to keep my finger off the trigger and resting on the gun itself.

Wow, this is not my most flattering side.  See the man to my left in the brownish/greenish coat?  He is the mayor of Shelbyville or Bedford Country.  He was a sweet man.  So, here we are listening to instructions on when and how to shoot.  And then we shoot.  And then I fall in love with target shooting.  And then I do this.

I am so proud of myself.

Ha, I killed it.  Well, you know what I mean.  In face my instructor told me I was one of the best shots of the girls there.  He told me that he couldn’t wait until I took my target in Monday morning to brag with the guys.  Oh, did I mention our instructor is our security training at the hospital and a country policeman?  He is a super nice guy.

After receiving our certificates, we headed back home.  Both of us were spent.  I was lucky to have a lunch date with a very special young man.  That’s right; The Boy came and had lunch with me.  I was able to brag about my shooting skills and he was able to brag about his driving skills.  It was a great lunch.

When I got home, I took shower and climbed in bed and took a two hour nap.  I then got up, ate the rest of my lunch and then went back to bed. HA  I was tired.

Today I was called into the office to help my boss.  Tomorrow marks the last week of January and therefore, our “inspectors” will be there.  Boy will we be glad when they are in and out.  It’s been such a stressful week and we are so ready for this to be finished.

I can’t wait to share with you my new Art Journal.  I got all of my materials i.e.; decorative tapes, colored pencils, water colored pencils, pastels and a new journal.  I’ll share that with you tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I’m getting my hair done.  Can’t wait to share with with you too.
